"Where the Catwalk Ends" on Saturday, August 19th, as a pre-cursor to the upcoming San Francisco Fashion Week events held at the Design Center. Missing Piece presents Where the Catwalk Ends, a mobile fashion showcase for everyone, in every neighborhood, and from every walk of life.

Missing Piece is an artist representative agency that temporarily takes high fashion down from the runway and makes it more accessible. Missing Piece connects individuals who want custom wearable art with the appropriate clothing or costume designer for their needs.

Danielle Cohen, owner and artist rep for Missing Piece, describes Where the Catwalk Ends as a creative display of community spirit and spontaneity. "We want to bring people together in extraordinary, delightful, and creative ways," says Cohen. "There are a myriad of talented, forward-thinking local designers who are unable to participate in the mainstream fashion shows. Missing Piece broadens the artistic spectrum of San Francisco style and bridges the divide between designers and spectators."

Where the Catwalk Ends is sure to be a fantastic public event, featuring the wearable art of local guerilla design heroines Miranda Caroligne, Bad Unkl Sista, Silver Lucy, Domini, and Missing Piece's very own Lara Grant. These select designers will pack into the infamous "Good Freight" Bus with the How to Behave television crew and a bevy of stilt walking, hulahooping, and modern dancing models to unleash playful and celebratory mayhem onto the city.

You may be fortunate enough to catch the musical party bus in Union Square, get a glimpse of colorful plumage flying down Lombard Street, or be stopped hot in your tracks by fire dancers in the Mission. But wherever you see the spectacle, it will be fun, interactive, and free.

If you do not catch the couture at the impromptu fashion shows throughout the day, you can still attend the Missing Piece Wearable Art Sale from 6-10pm at 440 Brannan Street Studio, formerly known as "A Motion Studio". Come to purchase unique wearable art from local designers, get your hair and makeup done by stylists SGuille Rayala and Brian Jensen, and have your picture taken in your new cutting edge threads by After5Media's Warren Difranco Hsu. It doesn’t matter that you’re not the supermodel type. In fact, it’s even better! After all, this is Where the Catwalk Ends.
