Peroni's largest promotional event in San Francisco to date, last Friday's self-branded fashion event in Union Square, had style insiders on both sides of the Pacific buzzing. In San Francisco, fashionistas wondered what a premiere Italian lager could do to top their successful "Emporio Peroni" campaign on Maiden Lane last month. While in Sydney, style-hounds held their breath as MaleOrderOnly.com was about to launch Australia's own FashionAssassin and Niki Flynn clothing lines stateside at the Peroni event.
Friday found Union Square dressed in Peroni white, complete with the blue branded cafe umbrellas, banners, a step-and-repeat with a red carpet, and a massive catwalk. A skilled production crew had turned San Francisco's famed marble plaza into a fashionable palazzo. Meanwhile, MaleOrderOnly.com creator Hareth Tayem, his assistant Anthea, and a small team of dressers (student volunteers from FIDM) styled the looks for the show. Miles Berdache, the shows key make up artist, and his assistant Melissa (from Koko Represents) performed make up magic as Lisa Marie from "Hair Of The Gods" salon made gorgeous work of the hair.
As dusk approached, the Fresh Faces of Peroni- announced last week including models Blake Hanson, Thomas Herrero, K. Holden, Manuel Jimenez, Andre Linzmeyer, Marivel Mendoza, Andrew Peters, Markus Pope, Zac Thomas, and Steve Swofford - joined the Bay Area's own Lluvy Gomez of America's Next Top Model and Grammy Award-winner Ladybug Mecca on the runway to present the lines from Oz. Both lines, which had a media preview the day before at California Modern Art Gallery, were greeted with great interest, especially FashionAssassin's "Trophy Dress". The looks were styled with accessories by Santo's Wish and shoes by Faryl Robin. Following the show, Ladybug took to the stage in a vintage frock styled by Anthea to perform singles from her solo debut album- Trip the Light Fantastic.
